Costal Regeneration Volunteering with Common Ground Relief
April 13 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
This project is intended to protect a stretch of coastal wetlands belonging to this indigenous community that is extremely threatened by land loss. We have been collecting recycled Christmas trees across Southeast Louisiana, recycled glass sand sourced from Glass Half Full, and invasive tallow trees felled on-site to fortify and maintain a rapidly eroding canal bank on tribal lands using biodegradable and nontoxic materials. Volunteers will meet on-site at the Pointe-au-Chien Community Center and be ferried a short distance by boat to help us implement this recycled berm and plant native marsh grasses behind it. Transportation and Lunch will be provided by Hillel. Sign up here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdO38FtF6KZV0AQ0kfh0RRlTuDKhzcFG84c4EiNxsZXs7rluw/viewform
