As the Operations Director, Jacob oversees day to day operations of the Mintz Center. He serves as a liaison for Tulane Professors and Mintz Center class schedules. Jacob is also responsible for Tulane work-study students at the center.
Jacob is a New Orleans native and graduate of UNO. He has as spent the past decade and a half working in animal welfare where has developed strong relationships with local and national animal welfare and breed rescue groups. Jacob was Director of the Plaquemines Animal Welfare Society, where he oversaw the transition of that organization into the region’s first LEAD-certified green animal shelter, before accepting a job as Programs Director to Jefferson SPCA where he spent a decade building programs for the startup.
Jacob lives in New Orleans with his adopted dog, cat, husband and has fostered more than 50 foster dogs. Jacob enjoys spending his time volunteering as treasurer on the board of directors of Doggone Express, an organization that utilizes inmates to train shelter dogs that are less likely to be adopted due to their unwanted behavior. He also serves on the board of directors for the Rock Cats Rescue, a travelling show that supports cat adoption nationwide.
